  • The pill will regulate your period.

    Birth control pills can create the illusion of a regular period, however the bleed you have on the pill is not a true period.

  • A pill bleed is a period.

    Nope. t is a withdrawal bleed. A true period always follows ovulation and the pill works as a contraceptive by blocking ovulation.

  • Birth control will make your symptoms go away.

    Birth control may suppress your symptoms for some, however it is not addressing the root cause of the symptom. This means that you may have relief, but if you were to stop birth control without address the why behind the symptom you were experiencing it is likely to return.

  • There are no risks to hormonal contraceptives.

    While this will differ from person to person, all medications may pose risks and side effects. It's important to discuss this with your doctor and read the full list of possible health risks and side effects of your birth control. Certain conditions and other medications you are taking can all affect this as well.

  • Non-hormonal birth control options are not effective.

    When used correctly non-hormonal birth control options like condoms or fertility awareness based methods are effective alternatives.

  • Birth control is your only option if you're experiencing period problems.
